When I stated school this fall I moved into an apartment only a mile away from campus. "I could walk to school!" Instead of walking I decide it might be cool to ride my bike to school. For the past month I've been commuting to school almost exclusively by bicycle. It has been an interesting experience. One of my favorite aspects of commuting is avoiding that whole parking business. Instead of waiting around for someone to leave their parking space I can ride right up to the door. Saving gas and being greed is a nice perk as well.
Despite those great things there are some aspects of commuting to school that aren't so good. I'm not a very big fan of walking into class all sweaty but I'm working on ways to deal with it. Drivers on the road can sometimes be a bit of a problem. Maybe they don't deal with bicycle commuters very often, and don't know how to deal with my presence.
Commuting to school by bike is overall a rewarding experience and I plan to keep it up as long as I can. I'm looking forward to cooler weather, and I'd like to see more bicycle commuters riding to school, because I feel that others can get as much out of it as I have.
